The Top 10 "Bad" Records By Good Bands

It happens in rock and metal more than many would like to admit, but as crazy as it sounds, sometimes a great bands put out bad records. This week Lou, Lily and Keith discuss their top "bad" records by great bands.  Featured Loudini Artists:   SATE   Nova Lantern   Defy The Tide

SATE
SATE has her feet firmly planted in the 21st century, but the passing of the torch is fully evident on this primordial scream of a debut record that balances huge riffs with swaggering vocals, like a lost collaboration between Tina Turner and Jimi Hendrix. SATE is out to satisfy earholes.

"SATE is an in-your-face, full-throttle blues-rock band with a sound that will amp you up and get you grooving." - Tom Matthew [Two Ton Music]

SATE would like to acknowledges the support from the following organization that have helped her on the journey of making and marketing her music, along with the support for touring:
FACTOR
Canada Council
Ontario Trillium Foundation
Ontario Music Fund
Ontario Arts Council
Toronto Arts Council
The SOCAN Foundation

Nova Lantern
Starting in 2012, Dan Douglas (lead vocals/bass) and Sean Kerrigan (guitar), longtime friends and collaborators, began pursuing a new project following the breakup of their earlier bands. They co-wrote a number of original songs while completing the band’s lineup. In time, all of the pieces fell into place. Josh Salant, a talented multi-instrumentalist and audio engineer, joined the fold on drums and backing vocals. Dan, usually a supporting vocalist, honed his skills to become the band's lead singer and lyricist. Lured in by the sounds in the basement, Josh's brother Sean added his immense talent to the mix, filling the remaining spot on lead guitar. These four musicians combine years of experience in the Brooklyn rock scene to bring you - Nova Lantern!

Defy the Tide is a melodic heavy metal band from Pittsburgh, PA and surrounding Ohio Valley area.

Defy the Tide was founded in May of 2014 when vocalist Carly Simon-Warneke and bassist Greg Fristick were assisted by Resistance 13 vocalist Jeremy Wright in recruiting guitarists Jesse Scott and Matt Friede along with drummer Luke Tenley. After a few jam sessions, the group knew that they had something special, and Defy the Tide became a reality.

Defy the Tide recorded their debut EP in August 2014 at Innovation Studios in Steubenville, OH. The EP was released in October 2014 and was limited to 100 copies.

Each member of the band brings different influences into the songwriting process which creates a very unique style that helps Defy the Tide stand on their own.

Defy the Tide has recently finished recording their follow-up EP at Sacred Sound Recording Studios with Producer Andrew D'Cagna (Brimstone Coven/Metal Blade Records).
