Episode Notes: SATE has its feet firmly planted in the 21st century, but the passing of the torch is fully evident on this primordial scream of a debut record that balances huge riffs with swaggering female vocals, like a lost collaboration between Tina Turner and Jimi Hendrix. SATE is out to satisfy earholes. Armed with ferocious soulful wails, relentless guitars and greasy grooves, the SATE experience is fueled by one lyric - "Don't let them demons pull the trigger, don't let them kick you down"...because, onstage SATE fights until everyone is connected in sweat and sated. http://stateofsate.com/

Lou Lombardi is a guitarist well versed in most popular styles with over 20 years of live and studio experience. Lou Lombardi started performing on stage at the age of 10, playing drums with his father's gospel quartet. After years of piano and drum lessons he found his true calling, playing the guitar. Within a year of picking up his first six string, he started playing live shows with garage bands, gospel quartets and acoustic duos.
Desiring to hone his chops beyond basic rock and pop music he sought out the teaching talents of Pittsburgh guitar greats Tony Janflone Sr. and Eric Sousoff. Later, while majoring in English Literature in college, he studied classical guitar with Pittsburgh Symphony guitarist and cellist Irving Kauffman, at the same time working numerous big band and jazz combo sessions and shows.

In recent years Lou has worked with several well received bands including Wanton Records recording artists "Love in Ruins," with which he composed, arranged, and produced 3 CD's worth of music. He also has production, songwriting, and guitar credits to his name with quite a few other groups and artists such as, Billy Sunday, Pete Hewlett, Supermonkey, Julie Parker, Petey Gets Around, & Blue Food.

His latest studio endeavors consist of creating the sounds for "The Hug," a robot being developed by the Interaction Design Team at Carnegie Mellon University, and composing and recording the musical score for the short film "The Heidelberg Project." He is currently the owner of YourGuitarist.com, and the touring guitarist for The Shelley Duff Band. Lou Lombardi is interested in building long term relationships with other talented, songwriters, producers and musicians.

The multi-faceted musical mastery of Ed Roman sparkles like a prism of possibilities, which play out like a synthesis between a children's book, a musical, an expose and a spirit quest - full of wonder, delight, mystery, provocation and sheer excitement wrapped in layers of funky, soul shaking grooves! The sheer expanse of the musical gamut that Ed draws upon is astonishing and he does so with perspicacity, unbridled passion and cunning virtuosity.

Upon blooming into the music world in the early '80's, Ed tasted from every creative tray before him; from studio musician, live performer and engineer to songwriter and teacher. He has been a part of several bands including Brotherhood, Family Tree, Soup, Big Beat Collective and Special Ed and the Musically Challenged but has always continued to create individually when not collaborating.
Right out of the gate, with his freshman release in 2000, "Special Ed and The Musically Challenged", Ed defined his paradigm with inventive, infectious tunes that shook one's marrow and stirred the spirit! This guy was unique! Three follow-up releases with SEMC continued to mesmerize and astonish us with music that both kissed and prodded, seduced and challenged, hypnotized and enlightened us to ever greater heights.

In May 2011, Ed released his solo venture "Oracles and Ice Cream" and has never looked back. 22 tracks that are an amazing marvel of songwriting wizardry, prodigious performances and contagious energy with the mystery and magic of a lucid, tantalizing dream. The music both traverses and convenes broad music styles into the consummate collective of telluric, penetrating rhythms and canyon wide harmonic explorations, glazed with lyrics that range from penetrating to whimsical and all roads in between.

Now, in 2014, with "Letters from High Latitudes", Ed Roman has done it again, creating an earthy, funky and magical mix of music to seduce our ears! Let us sit back, get mellow and listen to this truly skillful musician weave a tapestry of enchantment from an eclectic fabric of musical styles. We can never get too comfortable however, as Ed will undoubtedly prompt us to examine the world we see and stimulate us to help make it better! Ed asks us to glimpse the world from his vantage point, offering up his vision and sometimes helping to point out the areas that need tidying. Like the janitor of our conscience he'll frequently show us the cobwebs and sweep the dirt from the corners of our perspective. One is left uplifted, invigorated and enriched by dewy new jewels of insight and permeated by a mosaic of mirthful musical mayhem. Funky, ethereal, grungy, luscious, rowdy, serene, provocative, clever, insightful and uniquely exhilarating, Ed Roman's marvelous musings drop dollops of tasteful delight through our ears to our hearts. You can't help but dance. You can't help but smile.

SATE has its feet firmly planted in the 21st century, but the passing of the torch is fully evident on this primordial scream of a debut record that balances huge riffs with swaggering female vocals, like a lost collaboration between Tina Turner and Jimi Hendrix.

Anthony Gomes, #1 Billboard Blues Artist, is a triple threat force as a guitarist, vocalist and songwriter.  Blues Music Magazine’s editor recently declared that, “Gomes’ formidable guitar chops and authentic singing place him in the forefront of modern blues.”  This, along with his high-energy shows and dynamic stage presence, make him one of the top draws on the Rock/Blues circuit today.  Gomes has headlined concerts in 17 countries and has had the honor of sharing the stage with B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Robert Plant, Joe Bonamassa, Heart, Jonny Lang and Kenny Wayne Shepherd.

Word of Gomes’ electrifying performances has reached Eric Clapton, Morgan Freeman, John Goodman, Toby Keith, Jonny Lang, Ron White and Vince Vaughn who have all attended Gomes’ concerts.  After experiencing Gomes  live, John Goodman referred to him as “a pure soul brother” and comedian Ron White declared his official endorsement of Anthony Gomes.   Perhaps the greatest complement was offered by Morgan Freeman who jokingly professed that Anthony was, “not bad for a white boy.”

“Bill Toms is a poet, a soul-shouter and guitar slinger with one foot in the gutter and an eye on the heavens above. And man, does he front a great rock n' soul band!” - Will Kimbrough

The creative compulsion to write songs that stir emotion, challenge the mind, and move the tail feathers of the audience is undeniably unique in music today. His performances have become legendary in sheer power and passion. Rock and roll, soul, blues, and gospel so deep the earth moves, and the walls begin shakin’ as Bill Toms and his band start the train rollin. American music never sounded so good.
He joined Pittsburgh’s legendary band, Joe Grushecky and The Houserockers, as lead guitarist in 1987. The band’s meteoric rise into the professional music scene enabled Bill to tour the United States and Europe repeatedly. While with Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers he opened for and played with a long and impressive list of notables, such as The Band, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Little Feat and Stevie Ray Vaughn. During his 20 years of playing guitar, co-writing, and singing back-up vocals for the Houserockers, Toms recorded six studio albums and one live concert album. In 1995, the acclaimed CD, “American Babylon,” was recorded and produced by Bruce Springsteen.
Bill Toms’ solo performances have taken him all over the United States and Europe. In addition to his previous six studio CD's, one “Live” CD, and single EP, his latest record, the Will Kimbrough produced, “Memphis” was released to international critical acclaim in 2011

Upcoming projects also include:

EPISODE 29 - Getting and Using "Social Proof"

Episode Notes: This week's hot topic...??  Social Proof??. The testimonial is one of THE MOST powerful tools at our disposal but many of us Simply overlook it. Plus Lou and Kevin discuss YOUR facebook comments on ?? If You could RID the world of ONE Thing, What would it be? Birthday Shout outs to Alanis Morissette, Mindy Smith, Pat Boone, Brandi Carlile, Ron Wood, Marilyn Monroe, Morgan Freeman, Cleavon Little
Music by: Addiction Chip DiMonick Steve Cal We Came from Space Angry Johnny Stangry

Addiction was formed on April 2014 in Athens,Greece.
While main influences are rock bands from the 80′s & 90's,
Addiction's music is a mix of a modern Glam, Hard n' Heavy sound.
Their self-titled debut album was released on June 1 2015.

Chip DiMonick rocketed onto the Pittsburgh music scene in 2005 with its debut release "Bat An Eyelash." Right out of the gate, singer/guitarist Chip DiMonick, bassist Joe P., and their original drummer established themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the Pittsburgh hard rock scene. The Pittsburgh Post‐Gazette called Bat An Eyelash "the kind of record Tommy Lee would tell a girl to strip to."

The critical acclaim for Chip DiMonick's unique brand of strip‐club rock continued with their 2007 release of "Not Yet Rated." Featuring a heavy‐punk version of the Dexy's Midnight Runners' classic "Come On Eileen," the album was lauded for its "loud, audacious ‐ some would say obnoxious ‐ rock 'n' roll" by the Pittsburgh Tribune Review.

In 2009, Chip DiMonick unleashed another sonic assault with their third album, “Sick Definition of Fun.” While the songs on this album retained the explosive energy and unbridled irreverence of their first two releases, the music is heavier and darker and the lyrics stray from their party‐at‐all‐costs mantra of years past into an uncharted territory of social consciousness, taking shots at everything from the news media to the drug culture to the adult entertainment industry. The album’s first single, “Make You Famous,” received a respectable amount of airplay on Pittsburgh rock station 105.9 The X.

Steve Cal' is a blues guitarist, singer, and songwriter from Philadelphia, PA. He first picked up the guitar at age eight after hearing Santana's instrumental Samba Pa Ti and started performing professionally with a band at fourteen years old covering songs by groups such as Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Cream, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, and The Doors. Cal' was first introduced to the blues after hearing B.B. King's The 'Thrill Is Gone.' He has also stated that the album 'Muddy Mississippi Waters Live' was another inspiring introduction to blues music.

In 2013 he released his debut album with his band, The Steve Cal' Band. The album primarily consists of original songs written by Cal'.

The Steve Cal' Band was a top winner of the 2013 Beta Hi-Fi Emerging Music Festival at World Café Live, which highlighted the finest emerging songwriters in the region.

Blues Rock Review has included one of the band's songs on their Volume 4 Sampler CD which features the best up and coming blues rock artist in the country.

We Came From Space is a small collective of super hero types. We Came From Space is flesh and blood guys that do what they can to bring a little light, heat, and volume to a sometimes dark, chilly, and silent world.

Now, we here at WCFS are aware that the concept of a ‘regular’ super hero is novel and does not fit into most people’s conveniently standard way of thinking. Relax; there is no wearing of capes or leaping of tall buildings with us (but one of those underground lairs would really kick ass). We will leave that to the ‘Super’ super heroes (maybe that’s you!) that wear capes and leap tall buildings (and have totally cool underground lairs).

We Came From Space uses loud rock and roll to generate righteous vibes and good time grooves! We are free thinkers in life and stand shoulder to shoulder in the certainty that MUSIC STILL MATTERS. It’s true! Someone’s just written it.

We Came From Space doesn’t fly the flag of any particular musical genre (although the set list is REALLY light on country-opera) and are proud of the poppy, proggy, punky, rocky, songs we’ve written. Life has taught us that limitations are nothing if not ummm…. limiting. So, to that end, WCFS defies easy musical classification. If it rocks, it’s right. Nobody puts We Came From Space in a corner!! Each member contributes to the writing, arranging, and overall rocket sauce that keeps the heat on here at WCFS.

Singer, guitarist Angry Johnny Stangry has been a part of the Pittsburgh music scene for the past 17 years. Growing up in a little town of Yukon, PA. Johnny was always fascinated by the guitar from a young age. Often getting caught by his parents playing a mean air guitar, and finally at the age of 16 his dad bought him his first electric guitar (it was $10.00) he remembers his dad saying. His first official band was a little country band called "Timbreline". That's where Johnny started to develop his country guitar skills. At the age of 21, he was a Blue's Rock guitarist, no country in him then. Johnny says he was eager to learn and always been a finger picker (doesn't use a pick). So it was easy for him to adapt. After five years the band disbanded in 2003.

A year hiatus, led him to his next band known as "Charlie Good Time". Which was a rock band playing classic rock and new hits of the time. This then led Johnny to play guitar for Nashville Phenom Brynn Marie. An amazing country singer originally from Carmichaels, PA. Johnny had the opportunity to open for the like of Loretta Lynn, Joe Nichols, Mark Wills, to name a few. It was a really cool experience and a learning experience. With all those accolades behind him, Johnny looks to put his mark on the music world.

Influenced by the likes of Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eric Clapton, Roy Buchannan, Vince Gill, Eric Johnson, Brent Mason, and Danny Gatton. These players have really helped Johnny hone his craft. Johnny audiences love his progressive blues which is a stew of blues, rock, and country music flavored with jazz, simmered over hot coals. Johnny's explosive guitar playing and stellar vocals are without a doubt crowd pleasers.

So if you love to hear intense blues guitar playing??? Or like to hear chicken pickin' country??? Or if you are a guitar music lover in general??? Angry Johnny Stangry is a must see guitarist!!!
